Stylish & Chic Winter Weddings
Winter weddings can be so very romantic. There are so many ways during the winter months to have a stylish and chic wedding. Evergreens, pinecones, birch bark, branches, glowing candles and touches of flowers will be wonderful warm touches to your table decor.
During the winter there is an abundance of different evergreens available. You can pick up trimmings at your local tree farm for very reasonable prices. Cedar greens, holly, blue spruce, white spruce, white pine, frasier fur and balsam fur make wonderful choices for touches of winter for your decor. Try a long, rectangle family-style table with evergreens running the length of the table, centered. Add simple glass vases filled with cranberries and floating candles for a simple addition of color. Add an abundance of votive candles scattered down the lenght of the table as well for added glow and ambience. Find vintage drinking glasses on Ebay or at your local yard sales and add deep red roses for a little floral touch. I love the varieties 'sexy red' and 'black magic'.
The escort card table is the first thing that guests will see as they arrive. Giving them a little taste of what is to be revealed as the night goes on. This is where you might spend a little more and make a statement. Ask your floral designer to come up with something creative with white birch logs, touches of evergreens and some simple flowers. Get creative with a curly willow or manzanita branch tree, sprayed with silver paint and touches of glitter, hanging crystals and touches of ivory roses. Then add hand crafted snowflake escort cards for your guests to have a wonderful conversation piece to gather around.
Remember that candles will be a simple way to add romance and glow to your reception. I recently suggested to one of our brides that a fabulous backdrop for her ceremony (which is being held in a barn) was to cut down fresh Christmas trees, place them in stands and add white lights. This simple, yet extremely elegant touch to her ceremony is an inexpensive way to add a touch of winter wonderland.
