What happens when an American Couple decides to get married during the Groom's break from classes before he defends his thesis? If the Groom is currently studying in London, England it means that a destination wedding is the perfect solution. The couple had Irish roots and were looking for a small intimate ceremony on the West Coast of Ireland in the artsy university town of Galway City, County Galway. What occurred was a wonderful event that brought friends and family from the United States, the UK and Sweden to Ireland for a mix of American and Irish traditions.
After a short but sweet civil ceremony, the entire wedding was brought via shuttle to Dunguaire Castle for a chance to explore the castle and take photos. The castle is open to the public and also hosts traditional medieval dinners. The group had the run of the castle for over an hour and the rain held off for the photos. The next stop was downtown Galway City and McSwiggans Restaurant for dinner and general revelry. This four story gastro-pub was the perfect place for dinner and drinks. The staff was extremely accommodating and even allowed the groom to pour Guinness for his bride. Although the group tried to last throughout the night (in true Irish fashion) cabs were eventually procured for the guests!
