Pricing Information: Our weddings are custom created therefore we price based on the types of flowers desired, how many stems needed, and amount of labor involved with designing the wedding.

What makes us stand out in our industry? My fresh innovative designs, extremely personalized service, and the freshest available blooms.

What do we like to do in our spare time? Walking Rails to Trails, camping at the beach with the kids, gardening, and writing books.

What charity are we supporting and why? I am contributing to the American Cancer Society, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the ASPCA.  I love giving back to charity; we’re fortunate to have healthy kids and Scott’s mother won a fight with breast cancer recently.  We also donate our services each year to a deserving couple.  We’ve been so very fortunate in business and it’s our little way of helping someone else out that probably wouldn’t be able to afford our services.  Next year we are designing for 3 deserving couples.

MY KPW Photo Shoot – No. 5, A Morning Shoot

The girls of Studio Nouveau, Lara and Kate, are a pleasure to work with and are quite a dynamic duo!  Their fun love for fashion really makes for some incredible and artistic shots and it definitely shows in their work.  (And as a model who’s not necessarily comfortable in front of the camera, Lara and Kate made her feel totally at ease.)

SN2

Time of Shoot: 11:00am
Bride: Liz
Hair: Hair that Moves – Lena Hartford
Makeup: Joya beauty – Joanne McDonough
Photographer: Studio Nouveau
Dress and Accessories: Occasions Bridal and Tuxedos
Flowers: Apotheca Flower Shoppe
Location: Prescott Park in Portsmouth, NH

What was your inspiration behind the shoot?

Kate and I swoon over Vanity Fair and Vogue.  We both have a passion for fashion and I think that comes through in our photography.  We’re also both uber romantics; we view weddings as fairy tales and try and create imagery that illustrates that.  We both went to art school, and studied not only photography, but painting, sculpture, etc.  So, I think that really helps shape the way we look through the camera.  It’s not just a flat plane for us – we want the photo to leap off the page at you!

Why did you choose the particular locations that were in the photos like the tree and the exterior of the house?

We love environments!  From architecture to trees and shrubs, we try hard to work with what’s around us rather than fight it, so we’re all about things like shingles and unusual trees that create interesting shapes and angles.  We find the juxtaposition of a beautiful bride against things like old graffiti walls or worn shingled siding inspiring!

What were some of your favorite photos from the shoot?

The photos of Liz in the tree are TO DIE FOR!  We had the most marvelous light under the tree, and to put someone so sweet and little like Liz in this large old tree creates such a narrative.  She looks like a little flower.  We also love Liz agains that incredible blue stage wall with the harsh sun; she’s right out of a fashion mag!  So glamorous.

MY KPW Update – Expert Advice

LogosTracedR4

We can’t help but share with you the fabulous (and mind-boggling) work that is going on behind the scenes of the new MY KPW website.  The team has been extraordinary with their thoughts around design and functionality.

R1-ExpertAdvice

So what’s really cool about this page is that it will display the latest articles written by each vendor or the most popular articles based on what stories the brides are reading.  Each article block will display an image, the service, the beginning exerpt of the article, and the author of the article – all of which will be linked so that the bride can access the vendor or category accordingly.

Pic1

Using the top tool bar (the brown region of the page), the bride will be able to sort the articles either by the Most Recent or Most Popular articles.  The bride can also sort by the following:

-Style
-Color
-Season
-Vendor Category

We look forward to showing you more as it comes along and if you ever have any questions or feedback, don’t hesitate to let us know!

MY KPW Photo Shoot – No. 4, Hair and Makeup for a Morning Bride

A morning wedding is always simple and refreshing and typically calls for a very natural bride.  The makeup and hair team shares with us a look that is appropriate for many brides planning to have a wedding in the beginning of the day.

SN2

Time of Shoot: 11:00am
Bride: Liz
Hair: Hair that Moves – Lena Hartford
Makeup: Joya beauty – Joanne McDonough
Photographer: Studio Nouveau
Dress and Accessories: Occasions Bridal and Tuxedos
Flowers: Apotheca Flower Shoppe
Location: Prescott Park in Portsmouth, NH

Lena shares with us her tips on creating Liz’s soft, flowy style…

Not only does Liz have great, thick hair but her wedding was staged for the morning hours and a simple style is always the best for morning weddings. I wanted to show simple elegance with a soft curl to her hair.

I took small sections of hair, starting at the nape of the neck. Working up using “working” spray, I wrapped the sections of hair around a 3/4″ barrel ceramic iron.  This gives the beachy curl effect that everyone is looking for.  After her entire head was curled, I softened the look with shine spray and used my fingers to comb out the curl to have a long, lasting look.  I also took some smaller pieces around her face and gently pinned them close to the ear to give it a little bit of formality and hold.

With Liz’s hair beautifully curled, Joanne sits her down for makeup…

For our early morning bride we must keep the makeup as soft as the dawn light.
Her eyes were lightly contoured with a natural crème to powder shadow with a warm matte color to set.  Eyeliner is kept thin to define the shape of her eyes and make her lash line look full.

I used a crème blush to highlight Liz’s already beautiful cheek bones and of course air brushed her skin for a dewy radiant complexion.

Her lips are balanced with the intensity level of the eyes with a lovely nude pencil topped with a Joya custom blend sheer nude….just a few shades up from her natural lip color.

Once Liz’s hair and makeup was complete, she was off to get her into her gown at Occasions.  To complete her hair style, the team chose silk flowers to place behind her ear.  At first, we only added one flower but then decided to add a second for a little more drama–still keeping it simple for day time.
