My Grown up Christmas List…

So maybe it’s because I’m a mom, or maybe because I’m a sap when it comes to music, but I can find myself tearing up from listening to some of the cheesiest songs on the planet.  Today was no exception. As I was driving home from my under 24 hour trip to CT- which was a lot of fun, by the way- I was listening to 103.3 FM WODS because they started playing non-stop Holiday music the day after Halloween I think…. regardless I was driving along, minding my own business, secretly waiting for my favorite holiday song, Last Christmas by Wham!- no laughing, and Amy Grant’s Grown up Christmas List came on.  Now this song has been in my top 10 favorites for a while, but for some reason it really hit me this morning as I was singing along in my oh-so operatic style.  I am going to copy and paste the lyrics for you to see the part that really choked me up:

No more lives torn apart

That wars would never start

and wars would never start

And time would heal all hearts

And everyone would have a friend

And right would always win

And love would never end

This is my grown up christmas list

So why am I crying and driving home to NH over this chorus?  To be honest, I wasn’t really sure, but I knew it had something to do with a business decision that I’m SO proud to share with you about my Kate Parker Wedding very very soon.  The lyrics made me realize that I have planned weddings for the past six years which means I’ve been in the business of making happy memories for happy people for quite some time.  I guess I just realized that not everyone in this world has been as fortunate as my clients because not everyone can get married.  To me, a wedding is a wedding.  According to dictionary.com, a wedding is the act or an instance of blending or joining.

I know there are very differing opinions on this subject, and I’m not trying to tell people how they should and shouldn’t feel about it. I just wanted to say since I’ve been in the business of planning weddings, my Kate Parker Wedding will do the exact same, helping all couples plan their acts of blending and joining.
