The First myKPW Collaborates Workshop

This past Wednesday, we held the first myKPW Collaborates workshop!  It was a very exciting day!  Ten of our fab vendors come to the myKPW office to network and collaborate with each other.  The main purpose of this myKPW Workshop was for vendors to make sure their mission statements really reflected their what each of their businesses are about.  Mission statements should ideally be a way to let the public know what the purpose of your business is.  The mission statement is a way to show people why your business is different from the thousands of other businesses out there.  We wanted to share our awesome experience with everyone, so we hope you enjoy!  Photo credit  by Brown Photographic and Aurora Photography.  Thanks guys!

myKPW Workshop

The myKPW office … A tad off the map, but everyone made it!  I cannot believe it was actually snowing in northern NH!!  It ended up being a little drizzly throughout the day, but we all stayed dry inside the workshop!

KPW Workshop

Networking was a major part of this workshop, partner work was one of the first activities everyone did at the workshop to get the creative juices flowing!

Mmm, dessert.  Yes, those are chocolate covered pretzels .. one of the greatest combos ever.

The tables, chairs, and linens are all thanks to Be Our Guest!  They are truly awesome to work with.

myKPW Workshop

We spent a lot of time working on each vendors individual website, making sure it reflected the vendors personality, style, and mission statement.  The website is usually a couple’s first glance at a wedding vendor’s work, so even at the first look the couple should be able to get a sense of what the business is all about.

myKPW Workshop

All in all, it turned out to be a beautiful night, despite the rain!  The workshop was a success and hopefully our vendors walked away with some new ideas and insight and business connections.

myKPW Workshop

We figured that donating to charity is one of the most important aspects of myKPW, so why not charge our vendors a bag of Beneful or an old blanket or toy to attend the workshop!  We love supporting the ASPCA and it is so important to us that we give back in any way we can.  Our fabulous vendors brought all of these donations for our local SPCA in Stratham.  We so appreciate all of your support and donations .. the animals do too!

Number of years in business:

Just over 8 years.  Prior to starting my own business, I worked for a PR agency where we planned a lot of corporate product launches and events.

Pricing Information:

Our pricing typically ranges between $3,000-$15,000 depending on services.

What makes you stand out?

We work with a lot of different industry professionals and our goal is to match clients with the right people.  We don’t have a short list of only 4-5 vendors in each category that we work with so we’re able give our clients a broad range of options.  This adds value and makes the wedding truly theirs not cookie cutter.

What’s the favorite part of your work?

The creative aspect — designing the save-the-dates, invitations, selecting linens, flowers and adding elements that are unique and define the couple.  I also enjoy when we have the opportunity to work with clients and secure the other wedding professionals who will be a part of the team and help execute the vision.

If you have any spare time, how do you spend it?
I like to garden.  My favorite flowers are peonies, ranunculus and dahlias.  It’s rewarding to see your hard work bloom.  I also enjoy going to the gym, reading, traveling and trying the newest restaurant. You can learn so much from visiting another country and experiencing the culture.  It’s provided a lot of creative ideas for the events we plan.

My cats are also a huge part of my life, so I’m also content with staying home and watching a good movie.

Which charity(s) are you donating to and why?

I still remember the first time I saw an ad for the ASPCA on TV with Sara McLachlan singing in the background.  It really hit me and I just balled.  I’ll never understand how someone can hurt a defenseless animal.  I immediately decided I wanted to help.  We donate monthly and I’m thrilled to be continuing that support through the site.

a deux bespoke bridal paper Wedding Advice and Trends

Rhode Island and Connecticut wedding paper products designer, a deux bespoke bridal paper, shares some advice and trends with us! Kelli Parker, of a deux bespoke bridal paper, shares some advice with us as well as some insight into the business. Working in the wedding industry allows Kelli to see the new and up coming trends first hand. Check out the trends she has been seeing as well as some advice below and be sure to see all a deux bespoke bridal paper has to offer on my Kate Parker Wedding!

Advice you give a couple when choosing a paper product designer:
1. Price doesn’t always dictate quality and the most expensive isn’t always “the best.” Anyone can be creative on a “sky’s the limit” budget; it is the truly brilliant than can do it at a price that makes sense (not just cents {wink}).
2. Your designer should listen to you, not tell you what you want. It’s important that you’re being heard. All of à deux’s designs start with a very detailed conversation.
3. Take time to handle the different papers and see the printing options. Yes, your stationery should “look” good but feeling good to the touch is nice too.
4. The add-on elements (menu, escort cards, programs, etc.) should have the overall feel of the event, not just the invitations.
5. Don’t be afraid to break a few etiquette rules. Some traditional points should be included but your personality should shine through as well. Rules are made to be broken, right?

myKPW7.713.528

What are some current trends you are seeing in wedding paper products?
I’m seeing a lot more personalization. Brides want something that reflects them and their unique style. I’ve also noticed more cut-paper designs. Images cut out of paper, fabric or wood by hand or with a laser will soon be gracing everything from welcome signs to table numbers.

Jaime looking straight on

Number of years in business?
I have worked for film production companies, WMUR, advertising agencies and as an in-house graphic designer & photographer/videographer before starting my own business almost 8 years ago.  Jaime has been professionally creating broadcast video/film productions since 2000 and has specialized in wedding videography since 2003.

NH_Images_TrashTheDress.713.528

Preferred Venue/Location/Style?
My style is a combination of cinematic and documentary.  I focus on telling the story of your wedding day in a way that is dramatic, artistic and fun to watch without sacrificing any of the important moments of your day.  Your final DVD will have your ceremony, toasts, and any other moment of significance in their entirety but intertwined with those dramatic transitions and special effects.  We also provide our Cinematic “Looking Back” recaps and Custom Highlight Videos in our packages so that you have the option of just watching a “mini-movie” of your day, or everything as it unfolds.

NH_Images_Flowers.713.528

Pricing Information:
I have packages that range from $999 – $3699, but any of those packages can be customized to fit exactly the needs of the couple for both coverage and budget.

What make you stand out?
I bring a very artistic and cinematic approach to capturing your day on video.  My main goal is to unobtrusively capture the unforgettable moments of your wedding day and present them in a way that brings back the laughter and tears that you experienced on that day every time you watch it.

NH_Images_Toast.713.528

What’s the favorite part of your work?
I love seeing the excitement in my couples as they plan their big day and then to see them so unbelieveably happy and in love on their wedding day.

If you have any spare time, how do you like to spend it?
When not working, I love… nature photography, traveling, camping, hiking, gardening and spending time with her husband Matt and son TJ.

Which charity are you donating to and why?
Pink Initiative because I have an aunt that has survived double breast cancer.
