Wedding Tip | Wedding Formals

Maine wedding photographer, Geneve Hoffman Photography, shares some great advice when thinking about your formal photos the day of your wedding.  Check out what she has to say!

Sit back and enjoy your day.  Allow planners, assistants, or designated party to coordinate formals. Photographers will have worked this out weeks before the wedding so that you don’t have to!

Keep family portraits to immediate family only when pressed for time.  Extended family shots, that may not even make the final album, can quickly eat up all your time allotted for the more important portraits of bride and groom and bridal party.   Remember, you are the center of attention for this one day!

Do family portraits right away at ceremony site, bridal party at reception site. This allows family to depart for cocktail hour to act as “hosts,” makes the best use of time, and keeps visual interest by changing backgrounds.

You chose this location…now make the most of it! Creative photographers take advantage of every nook and cranny at your location…of course, it’s fun to go to a special spot like the beach or a lighthouse, just allow for the special transportation and extra time.

Visit Geneve’s expert advice article on myKPW to read more tips on wedding day formals!

Me & You Video | presented by Dolce Studio Films

Washington DC wedding videographer, Dolce Studio Films presents revolutionary new Me & You Video product for wedding industry!

MeandYouLaunched nationally, Me&You Video is a new product that sets to change the way couples record their wedding memories on film.  Until now, couples wishing to capture their Big Day on video had 2 choices: hire a professional ($2K-3K in cost), or have a friend or family member film the day for them (free).  Me&You Video is the first ever video lesson, taught by a seasoned and award winning professional, that teaches your friend or family member how to film a wedding day the right way.  Visit us at www.MeAndYouVideo.com.

MeandYouVideo| click on the image above to watch an introductory video |

Of the nearly 2 million weddings that take place in the USA each year nearly 66% do not hire a professional videographer.  Many of these couples ask a friend or family member to take on this task for them instead.  Online resources to aid and assist these amateur videographers are limited to a few written articles which, frankly, are insufficient in providing enough guidance or instruction to ensure the job is done right.  As for visual examples?  Try to find one.   Until now, there has been no useful, expansive set of helpful instruction coupled with visual examples to guide an amateur in filming a wedding properly.  As a result, many couples are disappointed with the video they end up with.   The Me&You Video course aims to change that.

Brainchild of special event filmmaker Haynal Papp (owner of Dolce Studio Films), Me&You Video is fresh, modern, and doesn’t include cheesy video ideas that permeate the field. In under an hour, the Me&You Video course walks viewers through 5 easy steps to take towards filming a wedding day well.  The course can be viewed online or on DVD as many times as needed, even while filming on the day of the wedding.  Footage examples from actual weddings illuminate each lesson and the course provides guidance on how to choose the right equipment, what shots to capture and when to use handheld versus tripod mounted camera work.   The cherry on top is that each course comes with a Do’s and Don’ts List and customizable Shot List to follow while filming the wedding day. The best part of all? Couples can have a gorgeous wedding video for under $200.  In today’s economic climate, this price tag meets every budget!  And in today’s video world, this product is necessary.

Me&You Video is taught by Haynal Papp, owner of Arlington, VA based videography company Dolce Studio Films. An experienced professional, she launched Dolce in 2003 and has headed up a successful team of shooters and editors ever since. Her company began to receive accolades within its first year of business and has won numerous awards and press mentions each year.  When asked why she would threaten her own revenues by teaching prospective clients her trade secrets, she laughingly replied, “I created this product to help those people who don’t hire professionals either because they can’t afford to or don’t want to.  I’ve spoken to so many people over the years that regret their decision to have a friend or family member film their wedding for them.  I knew that I could impart highly useful information to save many people’s video memories from certain disaster.”  She saw the need, invented the product and launched it today with the goal of helping many couples and families across the nation preserve their memories on film.

About Me&You Video

If you’ve chosen to have a friend or family member film your wedding day for you, Me & You Video is as much an instructional course for them as it is an insurance policy for you.  Avoid ending up with a terrible wedding video by teaching your friend or family member how to do the job right!  In under an hour, the Me&You Video course condenses years of professional experience into an easy to understand and easy to follow 5 step course that can be watched over and over again to equip your friend or family member with the tools they need to do the job well.  It gives couples the opportunity to ensure their memories are captured on video in a way that’s easy to watch, something you can share, and ends up being something you love.  And the price point for this course is a drop in the bucket when you’re looking at paying for a wedding!  It’s a small price to pay to ensure your memories aren’t lost forever. In addition to the course, you also get 2 amazing tools: the Top 10 Do’s and Don’ts List and the customizable Shot List.  With these tools and the course instruction, any amateur using the Me & You Video course is equipped to do the job right.  The risk couples take is now an unnecessary risk, because there’s a better option.

W Drapings Florida4

Number of Years in Business: Before moving from Venezuela in 2003, Ernesto Weitz-Mottola (owner of W Drapings Florida) and his wife were running an Interior Design firm that was very successful for many years in the coastal city of Puerto La Cruz. Florida was offering them a much better living style, so they decided to get rid of everything that they owned and start their lives in Orlando from scratch. Soon after they moved from Venezuela, Ernesto started to work as a Wedding Decorator at the Rosen Plaza Hotel where he was introduced to the wedding business and continues to collaborate with them in a regular basis at weddings and events. In 2006 W Drapings Florida was formed (W Drapings FL, LLC.) and has been steadily growing thanks to Ernesto’s creativity and craftsmanship, the help of Jenny Lynn Weitz (daughter, and business partner) and support from Jenny Ann Amare (event design assistant, and wife for over 25 years).

Pricing Information: This is the first question that all of our clients ask when they first contact us and it is the most difficult question to answer because every venue is different. When we explain that to couples they understand it but still expect to be given a “range” or a “ballpark price” and that could also be very tricky. We like visiting the venue and then give accurate pricing, present drawings, and show them samples. To partially solve this problem we have come to the conclusion that there are two (2) “Starting at” prices: 1) for venues with ceilings that measure up to nine feet high our services start at $950 and, 2) For venues in which the ceiling height is greater than nine feet our services start at $1,400. It is important for all couples to keep in mind that the height of the venue is not the only factor on the pricing equation, the length, the draping style, the amount of drapes, and most importantly the craftsmanship and creative energy put into the project are aspects reflected on the final price.

What makes you stand out? We believe that our work stands out because we take the time to visit each venue in advance, we meet with the couple and also meet with the person in charge of planning the event. Building a relationship with the individuals involved is very important to us. We provide highly customized wedding draping design services, we sew our fabrics and basically “tailor” it to each venue.

What’s the favorite part of your work? Our favorite part is divided in three: excitement, fun and satisfaction. The excitement starts when we receive a call or an e-mail from a client asking for our services, it is very important to get to know exactly what the couple is looking for and how they want their venue to look like the day of their wedding. The fun part comes when we start focusing on the creative aspects, such as design, installation, style… always paying attention to the architectural elements of the venue because they play a huge role in our work. And then the satisfaction… after the drapes are installed, the music and lights are on and the couple enters the room, their faces are priceless! That is the best part.

If you have any spare time, how do you spend it?
Since we operate our business from two different cities (Jenny Lynn is in Houston, and Ernesto is in Orlando) and we are father and daughter, we spend our free time either talking on the phone to each other or on the computer exchanging pictures. But when that is not the case Ernesto likes spending time cooking (he cooks delicious garbanzo dishes and ceviches) and Jenny Lynn spends most of her free time working at her artist studio (she and her husband are artists and furniture makers!).

Which charity(s) are you donating to and why?
We decided to divide our charity contribution to all three charities because they are all equally important and all of them are somehow related to someone that we know, and since animals are important as well… why not help them while we can?
