Ideas in Bloom | Vendor Spotlight

New Hampshire floral design company, Ideas in Bloom is co-owned and operated by Kristin Condon O’Neil and her mother Pam Condon. This mother-daughter duo nestled in New Boston works together to create individualized floral arrangements that reflect the personalities of each couple.  And I just have to say, when I jumped off the phone with Kristin, I couldn’t help but tell everyone how sweet of a person she is!

Number of Years in Business: Ideas in Bloom was created in 2004, but our combined floral experience totals over 15 years.

Pricing Information: In lieu of offering packages or specific pricing we prefer to work with each couple to create a customized quote that fits both their vision and budget.  No two weddings are the same!

What makes you stand out? First off, we keep it “in the family” as a mother-daughter team.  Perfectionism runs strong in our gene pool, and when combined with our various artistic talents we offer our clients well organized service paired with beautiful and creative work.

What’s the favorite part of your work? That’s a tough one; we really enjoy everything that we do!  Delivering the bridal bouquet is always so gratifying.  After all the planning and prep it’s such a joy to see a bride’s eyes light up when she sees her flowers for the first time.

If you have any spare time, how do you spend it? Believe it or not, we love to spend our free time with family!  You’d think we’d be sick of each other, but we’re not (well, most of the time).  We enjoying planning family outings, dinners, or hikes with our shop dogs: Miya, Kiera, and Buckley.

Inspiration

If I had my way, I would live up north in New Hampshire or somewhere in New England with lots of land, mountains, maybe a little running brook, a barn is a definite must…and the list goes on and on.  And there’s something to be said about how weddings have been adopting so many of the rustic elements.  From birch-wrapped cocktail centerpieces, to little birds nests to accessorize your table and even a s’more bar?  Who doesn’t love it?

I especially love the place card table idea by New Hampshire floral designer, Ideas in Bloom.  It’s such a great idea and very practical — should you have a little bit of handiness in you.

So what’s going on?

Man, the holidays are approaching us quickly, and I still have so many things to do…cards, baking, putting back up our fallen 15-foot tree!  Oh by the way, if you need some super cute holiday cards and you’re in the Portsmouth area (NH, that is), be sure to stop by Gus & Ruby Letterpress.  First, they just have the cutest boutique ever (I want to live there).  And second, they have the sweetest holiday card selection!  Click here to see what they have — or may not have after I’ve been in there.  I’ve already chosen like 5 different sets that are must haves for this year!

So what’s been going on this week?  A lot. Period.  But that’s a good thing!  There has been much action going on with new photos and videos getting uploaded and fabulous wedding features!  We love this one by Maine wedding planner, Sweetest Things Wedding.  Love the color combo — yellow, aqua and slate.  And the dress worn by the bride?  Fabulous!  We’ll certainly show more from this featured wedding next week, so stay tuned!

This week was full of brightly colored wedding details, and Floral Artistry is not shy of any hues.  So let’s welcome Floral Artistry to the family and check out some of their fabulous floral designs!

Here’s to something bright–not only the amazing bouquet, but the concept of the shot.  It totally made me chuckle! Love this shot by Chicago wedding planner, Shang Chen Photography.  And in case you missed it this week, she captured a beautiful organic-y yet mod event at the Boston Public Library — check it out here.

Thinking about wedding dresses?  Tulle is a definite trend for 2011.  And in case you are thinking about a tulle dress but don’t know if there is a dress that fits your style, be sure to check out this expert advice article.  Love this one by Lazaro, by the way!

Pantone 2011 Color of the Year | HONEYSUCKLE

Today, Pantone has announed their 2011 color of the year to be honeysuckle – 18 2120! Of course we could not resist pulling together a little inspiration to celebrate the news, but what’s more interesting is the story behind the decision.

“In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues.  Honeysuckle derives its positive qualities from a powerful bond to its mother color red, the most physical, viscerally alive hue in the spectrum.

The intensity of this festive reddish pink allures and engages. In fact, this color, not the sweet fragrance of the flower blossoms for which it was named, is what attracts hummingbirds to nectar. Honeysuckle may also bring a wave of nostalgia for its associated delicious scent reminiscent of the carefree days of spring and summer.”

Honeysuckle is guaranteed to produce a healthy glow when worn by both men and women. It’s a striking, eye-catching hue that works well for day and night in women’s apparel, accessories and cosmetics, and in men’s ties, shirts and sportswear. Add a lively flair to interior spaces with Honeysuckle patterned pillows, bedspreads, small appliances and tabletop accessories. Looking for an inexpensive way to perk up your home? Paint a wall in Honeysuckle for a dynamic burst of energy in the family room, kitchen or hallway.
