I am so thrilled to show off Sweet Lydia’s gourmet s’more confections! Lydia is from Massachusetts and she is creating a fantastically gourmet version of the traditional campfire snack. And oh my goodness are these things good! Lydia sent us a cute package of different s’more varieties to sample and I personally devoured a white chocolate s’more. It was to die for! I know the other girls enjoyed theirs too, trying flavors like peanut butter marshmallow and raspberry marshmallow. Sweet Lydia’s also offers candy and chocolate coated pretzel rods, s’more bites and gift baskets of her creations.
We love getting together giveaways for our awesome followers. So because we’re so awesome here at PTW and Lydia is so awesome for offering — up for grabs, we have a wonderful package from Sweet Lydia’s! The prize is a package of 20 custom s’more favors. These treats are a perfect favor for a wedding or as part of a candy or dessert bar. In addition to the giveaway, we spoke with Lydia about her creations and how she turned her treats into a blossoming business:

PTW: How did you start Sweet Lydia’s?
SL: I was working in a regular job and making sweets on the side to satisfy my baking addiction and sweet tooth. I found myself thinking about who I should send these s’mores to at work and when I had friends and family ask me to ship them some, I knew I had to turn my hobby into a business.
PTW: What type of products do you offer that would be considered specifically for weddings, meaning… flavors, style, size, whats ships the best, quantity per favor, etc.?
SL: All our products are easily customizable with personalized labels, ribbon and matching chocolate color. The Original S’more is the most popular wedding favor because of its mass appeal, but the box of four mini s’mores is quickly catching up.
PTW: What type of packaging do you offer? Is it basic? Detailed?
SL: We most commonly use small clear cello bags for the s’mores and marshmallows and clear plastic boxes for the s’more bites. The labels for all favors are customized for each event, and those can be as simple or complex as your imagination.
PTW: Can you customize the packaging for individual clients or events?
SL: Absolutely! Whether you would like a colored or patterned cello bag or a solid 2 piece favor box, we’ll do any thing in our power to accommodate. That includes creating your own marshmallow flavor too!
PTW: What is your turnaround time for different size orders?
SL: We request 4 weeks lead time for custom events of any size (except between mid November and December 25th, when we require 6 week lead time). The lead time is needed to make sure all the custom packaging is in stock, the labels are proofed and printed and the sweets arrive in time for your event. There are times where we can squeeze in special orders fast
PTW: Are you able to work with special dietary needs? (We see you now offer gluten-free! YAY!)
SL: We are now offering gluten free Original S’mores in the online shop, but we can offer any flavor for specialty favor orders. I personally have a peanut allergy so I do everything in my power to prevent any contamination in the kitchen. I am also willing to work with special requests to make the bast possible favors for your event.
PTW: If you were to do your dream dessert buffet of a variety of different Sweet Lydia’s favors, what would you be sure to include?
SL: My personal favorite mini item are Pretzel Delights. These are 1/2 pretzel rods, covered in marshmallow and milk chocolate and I could eat dozens of them in a sitting. Mini s’mores in any flavor are the perfect bite-sized amount of sweetness but my absolute favorite is the Peppermint Chip: peppermint marshmallow, chocolate grahams, white chocolate with mint chocolate ships on top (offered online during the holiday season, or large custom orders year round).
PTW: Do you have the ability to ship nationwide?
SL: We currently ship any where in the continental US, just haven’t had an order to Alaska or Hawaii yet. We suggest shipping favors with Express Mail, instead of Priority, so they arrive as freshly and as quickly as possible!
