For this weeks interview and giveaway we are featuring Amber with Sweet Ambs. We came across her absolutely amazing cookies on Etsy and just had to get in touch with her! Her cookies look not only gorgeous but also very delicious! To be honest most of her work looks almost too good to eat! After talking with Amber we found out that some of her cookies were actually featured in InStyle Magazine! Amber discussed with us about her work and how Sweet Ambs essentially came to be. She has also generously offered to give away 2 dozen tiny rose cookies to one lucky winner! In order to be entered into the contest simply comment on this blog post! The winner will be announced on June 24th! To learn more about Sweet Ambs check out her Etsy shop and blog! {BH}

PW: How did you start Sweet Ambs?
Amber: I started Sweet Ambs after graduating from The Culinary Institute of America with a degree in baking and pastry arts. I’d already received a bachelor’s degree in business so I knew that someday I wanted my own company that combined my artistic skills with my passion for baking, but I wasn’t sure where to begin. I started out with a few customers through word of mouth and sold a few cakes and cookies. Then, my mom told me about Etsy.com, a website where crafters sell their handmade goods. She suggested I try opening my own Etsy shop to sell my decorated cookies and the rest is history!
I now sell custom cookies for weddings, birthdays, and other special events. My original recipe is flavored with orange zest, vanilla bean and cardamom – a combination that makes these cookies taste even better than they look.
PW: What intrigues you about the wedding industry?
Amber: I love working in the wedding industry because it’s devoted to helping a couple plan a celebration that reflects their own style. There are so many aspects to planning a wedding and it’s wonderful to see all of those elements come together to create a perfect day for the couple and their guests.

PW: What are some recent wedding related trends you’ve seen?
Amber: I really love the idea of having a handmade wedding. Etsy.com is full of handmade items that can make a wedding especially unique.
PW: What type of products do you offer that would be considered specifically for weddings, meaning… Style, product type, etc.?
Amber: My monogrammed cookies are perfect for weddings. They can be decorated with any design and in any color to complement the décor of the setting.

PW: What is the most popular item in your shop? What can you not keep in stock because it’s just that popular?!
Amber: My Royal Crown Cookies became my most popular item when they were featured in the April 2011 issue of InStyle Magazine as an essential item for a Royal Wedding viewing party.
PW: What is your typical business? We would assume that you deal with a lot of brides?
Amber: My customers are not only brides, but also those looking for a unique, personalized gift for a friend or family member.
PW: What is your turnaround time for different size orders?
Amber: My turnaround time is 2 weeks for a regular item in my Etsy shop. A custom order for a special event such as a wedding requires one month advance notice.
PW: Do you have the ability to ship nationwide?
Amber: Each cookie is individually wrapped and heat sealed. They are carefully packaged and can be shipped anywhere in the U.S.!
