A Green Thumb | Floral Design Ideas

For centerpieces and other decor elements throughout your wedding design, potted flowers, plants, herbs, or small trees are a fantastic and sometimes cost effective ways to achieve a rustic or garden feel for your event (that is if you’re not choosing pricey containers or rare plants).  Certainly if you have a green thumb, planting and caring for the plants might just be a way to relax prior to your wedding.  If you don’t consider yourself a gardener, do consider talking to a florist about handling potted plants since you’re most likely going to want personal flowers for you and your bridal party.  Planting and caring for the plants do take some time and thought especially if they’re budding flowers.  Most know that sometimes budding flowers don’t like to bloom all of the time so having someone who specializes in flowers may know just the right tricks to keep your plants healthy and in full bloom.

If you are considering to do it yourself, do remember to put something beneath the container you choose to catch any moisture.  You certainly don’t want the arrangements to drip any water or moisture staining your linens.  Also, consider to plant at least a handful of extra pots just in case one decides to give out on you prior to your wedding.  Should you have extras, just spread them around on empty tables or ledges for added ambiance.
