Classic Lake Winnipesaukee Wedding | emilie inc. photography

This beautiful classic wedding was featured by the very talented Emilie, of emilie inc. photography on my Kate Parker Wedding.  I love lakeside weddings … i mean, don’t get me wrong – i grew up on the beach and i will be a beach gal for life – but there is something about lakes that can calm a person in seconds.  It is the perfect spot to hold a wedding because there is such a serene and peaceful atmosphere, not to mention you get the beauty of the water without the hassle of seagulls.  Below, Emilie shares some insight into the day’s events … take it away Emilie!

“Katie (who, yes, definitely resembles Elisabeth Shue) and Chris are yet another internet dating success story. They live in Boston but married at Chris’ parents’ summer community on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee. When I met Chris’ mom a few weeks before the wedding to tour Bald Peak, she explained at the first meeting of the parents that both sets were stunned that neither Katie nor Chris had been scooped up because they are both so wonderful, and so wonderful together. Exactly. It was just that matter of that thing called time for them to find one another. And everyone would agree with these happy parents, their children certainly found the right match in each other.”

“Their wedding day was an ideal September Saturday, with bright blue skies and a pretty breeze keeping things cool but not too cold. Highlights of the day included riding to the ceremony in a vintage Rolls Royce and to the reception in a party boat, and ending the night with a beautiful fireworks display.”

Asticou Inn Wedding | Sweetest Things Weddings

How can you resist this wedding — I mean honestly people!  We love a groom in plaid!   Maine wedding planner, Amber Small of Sweetest Things Weddings is in full bloom!   The colors of the dahlias are beyond phenomenal standing in a collection of small antique bottles with one-of-a-kind Maine driftwood placed in the center of the table.  And I must say that the couple’s laughter and playfulness draws me right into their event…next time, send an invitation this way!

Oh, and might we add that the couple own 90-acre organic farm in Milbridge, Maine called Salty Dog Farm.  We love supporting local farmers so check them out.

Be sure to check out the full featured wedding to learn more about the vendors involved and to see more photos from the event!

        Real Weddings | Top 10 Picks for 2010 {part one}

In no particular order, below are our favorite weddings found on Prepare to Wed in 2010.  Ok, these are just the first five, so stay tuned for more.  And let us just say that this was no easy task!

emilie inc. photography:  An astronomer meets interior designer in New York though decides to marry in the midcoast region of Maine at a private residence.  Even though it was a fog-filled day, the wedding was simply beautiful.

The Feds Studio: With all that is offered in California, the bride and groom chose to marry in Ashley’s hometown at their family’s local dairy farm, The Hornstra Farm. If my family had this farm, I would too!  Vintage milk glasses were fill with freshly squeezed lemonade and cold chocolate milk.

Petal’s Edge Floral Design:  This mod wedding featured a vibrant color scheme of yellow, silver and black.  With pin cushion protea for a bridal bouquet and bridesmaids carrying yellow craspedia or yellow coxcomb bundles, this was certainly an original event.

Fat Orange Cat Studio:  We fell in love with this intimate backyard wedding in Cambridge, Massachusetts which was certainly a family affair with father’s hanging up lights and a huppa made by a good friend.

Concept Photography: How can you not love this wedding!  The colors were incredible and the texture of the centerpieces with hanging peacock feathers were amazing!

          So what’s going on?

Man, the holidays are approaching us quickly, and I still have so many things to do…cards, baking, putting back up our fallen 15-foot tree!  Oh by the way, if you need some super cute holiday cards and you’re in the Portsmouth area (NH, that is), be sure to stop by Gus & Ruby Letterpress.  First, they just have the cutest boutique ever (I want to live there).  And second, they have the sweetest holiday card selection!  Click here to see what they have — or may not have after I’ve been in there.  I’ve already chosen like 5 different sets that are must haves for this year!

So what’s been going on this week?  A lot. Period.  But that’s a good thing!  There has been much action going on with new photos and videos getting uploaded and fabulous wedding features!  We love this one by Maine wedding planner, Sweetest Things Wedding.  Love the color combo — yellow, aqua and slate.  And the dress worn by the bride?  Fabulous!  We’ll certainly show more from this featured wedding next week, so stay tuned!

This week was full of brightly colored wedding details, and Floral Artistry is not shy of any hues.  So let’s welcome Floral Artistry to the family and check out some of their fabulous floral designs!

Here’s to something bright–not only the amazing bouquet, but the concept of the shot.  It totally made me chuckle! Love this shot by Chicago wedding planner, Shang Chen Photography.  And in case you missed it this week, she captured a beautiful organic-y yet mod event at the Boston Public Library — check it out here.

Thinking about wedding dresses?  Tulle is a definite trend for 2011.  And in case you are thinking about a tulle dress but don’t know if there is a dress that fits your style, be sure to check out this expert advice article.  Love this one by Lazaro, by the way!
