Asticou Inn Wedding | Sweetest Things Weddings

How can you resist this wedding — I mean honestly people!  We love a groom in plaid!   Maine wedding planner, Amber Small of Sweetest Things Weddings is in full bloom!   The colors of the dahlias are beyond phenomenal standing in a collection of small antique bottles with one-of-a-kind Maine driftwood placed in the center of the table.  And I must say that the couple’s laughter and playfulness draws me right into their event…next time, send an invitation this way!

Oh, and might we add that the couple own 90-acre organic farm in Milbridge, Maine called Salty Dog Farm.  We love supporting local farmers so check them out.

Be sure to check out the full featured wedding to learn more about the vendors involved and to see more photos from the event!

{Inspiration Board} Sun and Clouds

I love yellow.  Always have, always will.  It’s just a happy color and no matter what the weather is like outside, a yellow sweater just brightens up a dreary day. Ok, so where did this all come from?  The dress from Anthropologie, of course!  If I order it, my husband will certainly ask me why I am buying yet another striped yellow dress.  I’m sorry, I just can’t help myself! {liz}

Happy Thanksgiving!

I forget how fast Thanksgiving week goes!  So, we didn’t get to the Miss Now Mrs giveaway, so be sure to stop in next week when we announce how to win a complimentary name-changing service! But this week, we did announce another giveaway for a stop-motion video save-the-date by Boston wedding photographer, Alexandra Roberts Photography.  In case you missed it and you want to find out how to win, be sure to check out our giveaway blog post.

So what’s up for next week?  Well, when Michelle of Petals Floral Design sent us photos from a recent Vermont wedding, I couldn’t resist!  I love vibrant colors for a wedding — it’s playful, cheery, and let’s your guests know that it’s going to be a blast of a night.  Here’s a sneak peek into what we’ll see from Michelle.

We hope everyone has a happy – and safe – Thanksgiving.  Careful on Black Friday!  It can get pretty rough out there.  We’ll see you next week!

Falling in Love with Autumn Weddings | Datura – A Modern Garden

Are you ready for fall?  I know, sometimes it’s hard to let go of the summer sun, but what’s more cozy than the crisp autumn air and the cozy, intimate feeling it brings?  To get you in the mood, just check out the incredible design work by Connecticut floral designer, Datura – A Modern Garden.

Tony from Datura: Jenny and Tom were married at Jenny’s parent’s house in Connecticut – a stunning home that sits nestled in the trees atop a hill. For the ceremony, they chose a spot right in front of the pasture, hoping that the horses would come and be a part of the festivities. We decorated our custom iron arch with tons of southern smilax vine, then accented with purple kale and amaranthus for a natural, earthy look. The aisle was lined, from the house to the rows of benches, with our iron lantern stands. One crook of each stand held a floating candle, the other a simple design of kale, rosehips and amaranthus accented with cranberries.
