The Bee and Thistle sits nestled on five acres bordering the Lieutenant River, in the township of Old Lyme, Connecticut.

The Inn was built in 1756 as a residence for Judge William Noyes and his family.

In the 1930’s, Henrietta Greenleaf Lindsay, a widow with a large house to maintain, followed the advice of her actress friend, Elsie Ferguson, and opened the Bee and Thistle Inn to the public. Because it was Elsie's idea, it was named the Bee and Thistle Inn after the Ferguson clan emblem in Scotland. It has remained an inn since that time offering charming accommodations, award-winning dining and gracious service.

We will assist with every stage of your wedding plans to ensure that all the details are in place. Our exquisitely decorated inn and breathtaking gardens and river are a perfect backdrop for your wedding. Let us help create a unique wedding that fits your personal style. We hold weddings for guests of 40-130 in the months of June-September. These events will be a combination of a tented event and use of the inn. Weddings for guests of 40 or less are held year round upon availability. The facilities on the property include a sunken garden and beautiful grounds that lead down to the Lieutenant River.
